Durban FilmMart Announces Award Winners for 2023 Projects

The 14th edition of the Durban FilmMart (DFM) has concluded, culminating in the announcement of the 2023 DFM Awards on Monday 24 July. The event featured 28 official projects, in addition to 7 partner projects, offering attendees a diverse range of opportunities to engage and connect. GRANTS AND SUBMISSIONS

The Oscars selection committee Kenya invites Kenyan filmmakers to submit their films for Oscars consideration for the 96th Academy Awards by 13th September 2023, 5pm.

Green Film Lab promotes environmentally sustainable practices in audiovisual production and guides professionals on how to apply a green protocol and get a certification through 3-day workshops held in different European regions, in collaboration with film institutions and funds.

At the next round the workshop will be held in Rome (Italy), thanks to the collaboration between TorinoFilmLab, Green Film and MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo. It will take place between 13th and 15th October, on the tail end of the ninth edition of MIA Market.

The Red Sea Souk will take place at the Ritz Carlton in Jeddah, December 2—5 alongside the Red Sea International Film Festival. The Call is reserved solely for projects and films by directors of Arab or African nationality/origin. The Project Market will present a selection of ten to twelve projects in development or in production. The WIP Showcase will present a selection of five to six films in post-production.

All selected film teams (director and producer) will benefit from:

  • Invitation to attend and present their projects/films at the Red Sea Souk
  • Specific workshops
  • Official project and film-in-progress presentations to a high-level international industry audience
  • One-to-one meeting sessions

All selected projects of films in the Project Market will compete for 3 jury-granted awards offered by the Red Sea Fund:

  • Red Sea Souk Development Award: 35,000 USD cash prize
  • Red Sea Souk Special Mention Award: 25,000 USD cash prize
  • Red Sea Souk Production Award: 100,000 USD cash prize

All selected films in post-production (WIP) will compete for 2 jury-granted awards offered by the Red Sea Fund:

  • Red Sea Souk Post-Production Award: 30,000 USD cash prize
  • Red Sea Souk Special Mention Award: 10,000 USD cash prize
