A sub-licensor refers to a company or entity that works in collaboration with a primary distributor to handle the distribution of a film in specific territories or markets. Sub-distributors are typically appointed when the primary distributor does not have a strong presence or expertise in a particular region or when the film requires specialized knowledge or marketing strategies for that market. The sub-distributor works under the guidance and supervision of the primary distributor to handle the marketing, promotion, and release of the film in their designated territory. This partnership allows for effective distribution and localized efforts to maximize the film’s reach and potential success in specific markets. Anyhow it something also not recommended to have too many sub-licensors as they all take a percentage of the incoming revenue.
